If you do ENT, urology, T&O or MFU here then you're doomed. ENT in particular here dont bother to train their SHOs just their senior SpRs. Rubbish CST training especially for ENT... no operative time. Little opportunities for portfolio.
Amazing hospital as its all computerised. However the rota for ENT is AWFUL. You spend your 8-5 oncall (most of your the time) or oncall PLUS ward cover (i.e. you cover both like youre superman). Then your long days are ALSO oncall. Long days are general surgery until 5pm where the day ENT SHO hands over the oncall bleep and you cover both. So as t ...More
SHO rota with FY2s, Core Trainees and JCFs T&O team at Aintree is big (~60 consultants) and the role can involve shifts at Broadgreen (the elective site). Pros All of the work is interesting (key being if you're into T&O) and there's plenty to do in ED and in theatre. Having ranked in top 5% for England/Scotland/Wales CST applications and ranked in top 10 applicants for Northern Ireland - I worked super hard to get my CST top. Honestly Im so resentful over how I was treated and how poorly I was trained. In my first rotation I only got 11 educational days (theatre/clinic) the rest was ward cover and oncall. Ano ...More
