9-5 and cushy but everyone is irritatingly lazy. The stupidest, laziest specialty doctors known to manage work in this department, enabled by consultants. I'd rather do a demanding job than get lazy here
Appalling. Genuinely appalling. I thought the reviews were exaggerating - it was even worse. Apathetic consultants and registrars. Excellently run hospital, Own clinics, ward duties and well supported. Opportunities for education and study leave all achievable. Tolerable. Shift patterns Surgical Assessment Clinic (9-17:00) - you get one week of this. It's fine if the consultant actually turns up to senior review patients, otherwise it can be very difficult as you sit on a bunch of scan results waiting for the receiving consultant to actually do their job. Worked here as an FY1 as my second placement. FY2s are at Woodend, and one takes a turn each week to come for a 'short' day (9 am to 5 pm) but some spent most of their time at the ARI in theatre, so mostly everything is manned by the FY1s.
