Good job as an FY2/SHO - horrible job for an FY1, unless things have changed from a few years ago.
If you’re a FY2/SHO interested in surgery then this is a great job. You’ll get loads of time in theatre, clinics, exposure to surgical HDU, it’s a tertiary referral centre for pancreatic, hepatobiliary, intestinal failure and oesophagogastric surgery so you see loads of interesting stuff. From an SHO point of view, you’re well supported by seniors as there are multiple ST6-8’s on each of the major teams.
From an FY1 perspective, this place is not good. I personally didn’t work it but the work load is incredibly heavy.
As an ex SHO from this hospital, would 100% recommend. Doubt the FY1’s would say the same.
