The mess is large with computers, sofas (that fold into beds), pool table. The library is large but has limited opening hours. No other facilities.
Local Area

Headington is a lively area and is where most doctors live. The hospital accommodation is old, cramped, poor quality and most rooms do not come with an en-suite.

People make an effort but sadly all jobs are mostly service provision barring neurology, rheum, and endocrinology. There is little difference between a foundation doctor and an IMT and very difficult to get to clinic. Consultants are supportive but the workload doesn't allow great learning and research focussed clinicians are not particularly keen to teach but keen to get off the ward. All decisions on the ward, including the most basic such as paracetamol dosing is devolved to consultants and hence limits learning as a junior but also means that you are well supported in a tough clinical decision. The only one advantage is all the research that happens here but again getting involved is a combination of connections and influence.
