I generally really enjoyed my time at Kings. The GIM rota can be intense but I made some really good friends on my blocks (and you mainly work with the same people) so it never bothered me much. The patient population is very diverse with a lot of interesting cases. The consultants are generally all very friendly (my GIM was with a lot of resp/endo docs) and take time to get to know you. The registrars were all great and supportive.
I worked here when covid really kicked in and the hospital were great at looking after us. In a time when it was so easy to feel anonymous I genuinely felt that the higher up team cared. And a lot of effort was put into supporting us. The covid rotas were well designed.
The IMT teaching was really excellent - you could really tell you were getting taught by world experts. There was a series by a haematologist which I'll never forget. Really fabulous teaching. I hope they've kept it up after covid.
