COVID brought around free parking for all staff, which is yet to be re-instated (as the case when this was posted Feb 2022!) New carparks were opened in the 2020-21 training year, resulting in four main carparks available for staff parking - generally no issues finding a space if you arrive by 8:30/45am (most specialities will start their normal day by 9am). These four main carparks are all within 5-minute walking distance to the main hospital site. There is an additional 'overflow' carpark a little further out near the local Tesco for staff (~10 minute walk).
Notes & systemsMake a change
Multiple different electronic systems used for observations, handovers (for some specialties), prescribing (with some drugs such as fluids/infusions, insulin and warfarin on paper charts), clinic letters/outpatient documentation, clinic/theatre 'appointments. There's a current push towards an integrated system, although unlikely to happen any time soon.

Facilities & Doctors MessMake a change
Mess not very active when I was there. Didn't even know there was one until 8 months in.
Junior doctors are distributed in most directions around Luton - a large proportion commute from North/West London, with many living in Hemel Hempstead, St. Albans, Leighton Buzzard, Hitchin, and a handful living in Luton and Dunstable areas. Most juniors doctors commute by driving, with some taking the train to Leagrave station and a 15-20 minute walk from there.
Not too much to do in the near vicinity of the hospital itself - there is the Social Club associated to the hospital that is on site, with a few pubs ~15 min walking distance. Luton town is a short drive away that has a complex with a cinema, restaurants, bowling etc.
