Parking is on site across two main areas and is free (currently does not require a permit either) 1. The staff car park closest to the main entrance + multi story - This always has availability before 0900, after it can become more challenging - 2 min walk to main entrance which is mostly covered from rain 2. Seniors are friendly and approachable. Some opportunity for procedures. Ward days are stressful with lots of jobs generated, a lot of pressure to discharge patients. War ...More
Fast paced job. Some consultants more friendly than others. Not massively supportive. On calls were hit and miss - there were times you were reviewing sick patients with no senior support. I cant think of a single surgical/medical dept thar is staffed even renotely well. Rotas are poorly organised imo. All depts are pretty poorly staffed. Nurses ca ...More
Avoid unless you want to do cardiothoracic surgery. Most decision are made by SpR and nurses often bypass you and directly contact the SpR or ANP. ANP not interested in their jobs and often gone missing/leave early. Rota is 1 in 8 (including nights and weekends) and work load is acceptable. Theatre opportunity is minimal for FY2 and surgeons favour ...More
Workload: Acceptable. When you are on your day shift it is generally manageable. Oncall can be busy especially on Monday and Friday. Genuinely able to take 2x30 minutes break. Rota/oncall : F1 rota is 1 in 14 with a mixture of day evening and night shift. Mostly ward based (except clerking shift) and escalate to seniors if required. SHO rota i ...More
