Good team with encouraging seniors. Excellent support from Colorectal Nurse Practitioners who can prescribe and advise you on lots of common issues. Surgical on call and cover can be busy, long 12 hour shifts. I left late (>1hr) on average once a week, otherwise 7/10 job.

Excellent department, exposure to a really broad range of general medical presentations and a significant amount of conditions fully managed "in house" rather than simply being triaged and passed on to specialties. Supervising consultants were all engaging and keen teachers whilst being very personable and fun to work with. All in all, the job I learned most from (and had the most fun in) as an F1 by far.

Absolutely excellent working on geris at Musgrove in Taunton. A stellar team of consultants and regs, everybody was super supportive, so so friendly, huge on teaching and generally made easing into the life of a doctor a super pleasant experience!

Great place to start working as an F1 (and beyond), but especially for us F1s. An incredibly friendly hospital, where the hierarchy is close to none. Lots of integration between staff, consultants even host parties for everyone. Additionally, great mess who host lots of events (including outdoor activities and nights out eg. surf trip to Devon), really good teaching programme - every Tues, Weds & Thurs there is foundation teaching, giving you an option to go to at least one per week. You get a lot of responsibility as an F1, covering a wide range of pts on both medical, surgical and clerking on-calls, opportunity to do procedures, go to theatre and scrub in, attend cardiac arrests etc. I feel better prepared for FY2 having trained as an F1 at Musgrove, although caveats include that it has been morr stressful having more responsibility.
