Doctors mess paid for through salary sacrifice scheme. This is a smaller facility to the one in Ninewells, but has similar amenities.
Parking free, but a permit is required for staff parking. Staff without a permit cannot park on site for more than four hours, and must park on nearby streets. Medical notes on locally produced computer system (Ekora) for medicine. Paper based prescribing remains, but plans are under way to replace with HEPMA electronic prescribing across the North of Scotland. Pagers are still used in the hospital.
Local buses from Perth City Centre and surrounding area operate regularly, including connections to the railway station. Trains from Perth regularly serve locations across Scotland. Direct bus X7 runs hourly from Dundee City Centre and Ninewells Hospital.
Limited canteen opening hours. Canteen is located in the old building, which is a long walk from the āmainā part of the hospital. Vending machines available near the canteen 24/7. There is also an RVS shop at the main entrance.
Most junior doctors working at Perth will rotate out from Ninewells in Dundee for a short period of time. As such, most doctors in training will live in Dundee and commute for their time in Perth.
Generally was a supportive hospital. Did ED and gen med here. In ED felt like the ANPs were very patronising and undermining. But gen med was supportive, on calls were never too bad especially on Christmas/NYs. Initially PRI started using EKORA, which was great!
