Extremely poor and stressful job. F1 rota is very in busy - almost all of your weeks include being on call/nights and you work 1 in 3 weekends. Challenging but good job. The upper GI team is a more relaxed job than the colorectal job. As the FY1, never left without support both in and out of hours. Poorly run department. F1s are on call or on nights every other week and never had a full week of normal days for the entire 4 months. Very understaffed. Some seniors can be unhelpful. The nursing staff can be unhelpful. Pure service provision, received little to no teaching.
