Has a doctors mess which is bog standard . ie one computer (slow with mechanical HDD) , a fridge , tv ( cuts out), couch (tattered) , table etc... . Generally people have their own scrubs. No PODs so every little task involves walking to and fro different places. Almost everything is done with paper forms. Wifi seems decent, but computers are gener...More
Has a multi story car park for staff so not an issue. Additionally parking is free.
1. paper notes: with stickers/labels 2. paper referrals for almost everything 3. hand written / barcoded blood forms ED/rest of hospital, extra addons are on paper. 4. no PODs: get your aerobics done 5. If ED busy you see patients in ambulance 6. dated discharge software system 7. Clinics use a dictaphone but it is not connected to the computer a...More
There is a bus stop opposite the road to the main entrance that buses come from the town. A car is a generally a must unless you can find a place within walking distance.
1. costa 2. hospital canteen 3. few vending machines 4. food is the same as what patients get (canteen)
difficult to get a good rental around this area, if you do either pay a premium or get a poor quality place. Hospital accommodation team washed their hands said full and left it at that. Bridgend is a dead town with little to do. People are friendly enough.
Only reason to do anaesthetics here is to get as little clinical exposure as possible which does make it a good time to sit the exams, allows you to be a book smart but clinically poor doctor. Paper notes. Paper request forms and imaging. Any change to online prescriptions (Eg NPTH ePMA) is met with resistance by people desperate to keep the NHS i ...More
ACPs are not good , especially the ones with non nursing backgrounds. Parking is good , ED is really good, Acute med ok, gen med less good and COTE is service provision
To MANY NOCTORS running the show! NO/Limited access to clinics. Mainly service provision. Stuck in the old ways.
endo consultants are old school and will bad talk juniors (small dgh so gets back to you), overall decent to work with. Work is spread across multiple wards. Avoid if you want to do SPR endocrine training.
1. paper notes: with stickers/labels, often run out and you need to print yourself 2. paper referrals for almost everything and radiology, 3. hand written / barcoded blood forms ED/rest of hospital, extra addons are on paper. 4. no PODs: get your aerobics done, no porters for samples on gen med wards 5. If ED busy you see patients in ambulance 6. ...More
