In general, I would avoid FY in Queen's - it made me very disillusioned. Busy DGH with lots of tertiary services (kind of like a tertiary masquerading as a DGH). Large catchment area covering East London and Essex. Unfortunately not kitted up well to handle these demands. Many locums who have no ownership over the hospital. Continuity of care is often an issue. Terrible admin and electronic systems make simple tasks at least 2-3x harder than they should be. Have met many lovely brave souls who compensate in their own ways for the institutional deficiencies here. Many jobs largely service provision, limited training. Few extracurricular opportunities but always found it too busy to get anything done. Upside is the great medical education team who are very supportive.
