Reasonable variety of medical specialties - includes renal, haem, onc, cardio, neuro, gastro, endo, resp, ICU, geris. Due to population make-up there is a lot of geriatrics mixed in with everything else. Reasonable weekly teaching program, wide variation in departments in terms of education eg cardio is almost exclusively service provision. Difficult but not impossible to get to clinics (currently there is a "clinic month" within the 4 month ICU block which is quite helpful for training opportunities). Individual consultants and departments tend to be very supportive on the whole but workload and tight rota/rota gaps tend to get in the way of training opportunities.
