Some available, but unless you are a senior consultant or a PA you’re not going to get a spot. They do allow anyone to park on the roads near the hospital on rail strike days however.
Cerner EPR for everything.
5 min walk from Belsize Park tube, 2 mins from Hampstead Heath overground, and lots of buses.
Reasonably good food compared to some other hospital canteens. Comparably reasonably priced. Small coffee shop in canteen as well as M&S coffee. Salads and soups daily and a variety of mains during the week, also an M&S and WHSmith in the hospital. Great food options around the area including a Gails/Starbucks/Larger M&S next door. Numerous indepen...More
Great area. Arguably the best thing about the hospital. Lots of food options. Belsize Park & Hampstead Heath stations a short walk from the hospital. Hampstead Heath is close by if you fancy a short walk/dip in the ponds after work.
Would rate this around 4-4.5/5. Things that are good: - Rota is on average four 10 hours shifts a week = 40 hours a week. Lots of zero days. Shifts are nights (10pm-8am), Days (8am-6pm), and twilights (1pm-11pm). Shifts are designed to allow to catch last trains home etc. - Very friendly ED consultants and very friendly registrars. I was very scar ...More
This is a busy job, but generally quite well supported. The patients have a lot of medical comorbidities but of surgeons, Vascular surgeons are probably the best at dealing with them (diabetes, IHD etc). The job is mainly ward work but I did get a few chances to go to theatre for amputations, I even managed to assist in 2 ruptured AAAs. On night ...More
Definitely some positives here: generally pretty competent senior support, fairly well staffed and more professional service than some crazy dghs. Decent access to specialties, scans etc for your patients which can reduce stress levels. Most of the ED consultants are pretty nice. BUT really annoyingly the f2s barely ever get to do resus which I fo ...More
A busy department plagued by similar issues that most GIM departments face (staffing, patient load etc) but a great job for getting a level of autonomy early on and learning a lot. There are no hiding places on this job, by day you will be managing your own caseload of patients on the ward with (often remote) supervision or on take seeing patients ...More
Pros: Great area, the park is right next door. Lots of food shops and cafes nearby if you don't fancy the canteen (which ain't bad). M&S on the ground floor. Good support from the consultants/regs. Has all the services a big hospital needs. Cons: Can be barebones staffing sometimes, especially at night. High patient turnover, it is London after a ...More
