Really friendly department, with loads of senior support. (2 consultants on during day, 1 consultant and SpR at night). Everyone gets on really well with each other. Health rota where you get to book all annual leave in advance and have guaranteed study leave Lots of clinical fellows that work here so no often the A+E is fully staffed. Dedicated resus shifts for SHO's and teaching every Wednesday for 2 hours (protected time). The only downside is sometimes the environment can be stressful, and Brighton tends to be busy most of the year! But again the team dynamics are great and really help manage this.

Good rota for IMT - minimal ward cover shifts and all on calls are clerking/Ambulatory care which is generally really well supported and well staffed. IMT rota is different from other juniors with built in clinic weeks for rotations and very few long day (12hr+) shifts (depending on rotation) As an IMT you will have to cover on call shifts at Princess royal hospital in haywards heath around once or twice a month, can be difficult to get to, but as it is a DGH generally shifts are less busy and people are friendlier. Lots of opportunities to get procedures signed off in ambulatory care very early on (IMT1+ and even some foundation doctors are able to as well) Due to the way rota works you will almost always get your annual leave and study leave, very easy to apply for if you are organised. General ward work varies depending on the speciality, some can be busier and there may be a need to stay late (e.g resp, cardio, gastro) and others more chill (neuro, endo, haem/onc) good IMT teaching program - twice a week, all sessions recorded so you can catch up at a later date Cons: 8am start for medical jobs Overall would recommend for IMT
