There is a staff multi-storey new JDs are automatically allowed a space in, you are given a link to a self-evaluation of your rota when you start to see if you are eligible but this is not supposed to be needed for JDs. Costs £30/month. 16 week waiting list from when you complete the e-application in the meantime they will keep giving you stacks of free tickets to use for the patient and visitor car park. Car park itself is next to staff entrance and I've never seen it full.
Public Transport

The hospital is served by the U6 bus route with fairly frequent buses during the daytime, although you'll have trouble getting home if you rely on this for shifts finishing in the late evening. There is also a free staff shuttle minibus between the Royal South Hants and UHS sites every hour during normal working hours.
Notes & systems

Clinical notes are largely paper-based, there is an electronic system which is reasonably good which covers e-prescribing, radiology, investigation reports, requesting bloods/scans, viewing results, doing discharge summaries.
Food & Canteen

The canteen is not open overnight, the only overnight food provided is a Costa which can heat up sandwiches/toasties etc. The canteen is open during the day, the food is a bit soggy and a bit pricey for what it is but it's nice to know that someone gets to profit off the workforce needing to eat.
Facilities & Doctors Mess

The mess is reasonably sized, a bit grotty but generally acceptable, sometimes has snacks in it from Mess Committee, and pizza twice a week (Tuesdays and Fridays) at 1300. I hear there is a good library.

God awful training - avoid. 4 months of Surgical HDU as a CT1 means a whole block of no theatre or clinic once you’ve taken your annual leave. Minimal exposure during other blocks, poorly staffed so much of the time are pulled from educational activities to cover wards/on calls thanks to a completely incompetent rota co-ordinator No culture of mentoring
