Busy and sometimes chaotic job! Usually 18 patients, mix of respiratory and general medicine. Two consultants, who alternate between wards and clinic every week, one specialty doctor, sometimes an acute medicine registrar (often not on the ward due to on-calls, nights etc.) and two FY1s. No SHOs.
Ward rounds known to drag on for quite long and generate a lot of jobs. Seniors usually leave after WR to see referrals etc. so most jobs left to FY1s to do. Leaving late quite common.
Seniors very friendly and always contactable on WhatsApp etc.
Good opportunities for procedures e.g. pleural taps.
Weekly departmental teaching. Usually always audits available that need to be done.
