Huge multi-storey that never runs out of room. Free parking ends in September 2022 unfortunately, but the pass is not too expensive (£10/month or £1/day PAYG). Only downside is the pass is controlled by a typical NHS Parking Gremlin who lives in the bowels of the hospital and is in office 2 hours each lunar cycle and must be summoned with a blood s...More

Brilliant Rotation Consultants and Registrars all incredibly supportive and keen to teach. Regular teaching multiple times a week. Good variety of shifts across neonates, Paeds Ward, Assessment units and clinics.
Fantastic learning for a newbie F1 - great general medicine with good balance between high and low acuity patients. Really good ward support and typically look after 8-10 patients with senior support if required. Really good opportunity to develop both clinical and communication skills. Unsure if still the case but typically 1 person would come i ...More
Pros: Varied rota, scheduling F2s in theatre lists, clinics as well as covering emergency areas (maternity triage and emergency gynae unit). Generally good senior support. Good teaching programme. Cons: Rota coordinator is completely incompetent - lots of last minute changes, immense difficulty in sorting AL/SL. On calls can be very busy and rota ...More
9 bedded ITU and 8 bedded HDU, each have a consultant to cover, but sometimes only 2 juniors (e.g an F1 to cover all of HDU and a CT1 for ITU) which is hard work. Consultants generally nice and some make an effort to teach on WR, but no formal teaching. Good opportunity to get involved in research.
The department is high performing because management is obsessed with time targets. Generally friendly consultant team. Variable skill of doctors on middle grade rota. Rota coordinator is fantastic and sorts out all AL and SL no issues. Also able to attend mandatory teaching.
