Really enjoyed this job -it's ward work and gen med but with quite interesting cases and lots of senior support. At UCH you essentially cover inpatients for cardio, renal, endo and neuro (specialities they don't have on site, well neuro is next door at Queens Sq but we took a lot of patients) and you do also get quite a lot of overdoses - but overall I found it really interesting. Got to see a real mix of conditions and it was often rare or unusual diseases.
It was well staffed with 2 x F1s, an F2 and a lot of reg's. The reg's and Consultants tend to all do a lot of academic work and are really keen to teach and help with projects/QIPs. The rota is quite kind - you do a normal 9-5 day on the ward and then are also on the medical rota but at UCH this means 1 in 6 weekends and then occasional long days which are 2-10 and you don't come in beforehand! No nights and no take.
UCH is a great hospital to work in generally - one of the best IT systems I've ever used in the NHS, very supportive with study leave and a generous study budget, loads of interesting stuff, lots of projects, and great location.

A really good job, especially if you are interested in surgery. You cover Upper GI surgery, bariatrics and endocrine surgery. Very well staffed with 3 x F1s and another SHO so ward work could feel quite light. Have rota-ed protected time in theatre and get to see some really interesting procedures (like Ivor-Lewis) or bariatrics etc. The SpRs are all pretty senior and keen to teach and get you involved in theatre and clinic. The consultants were all very supportive and approachable.
The day on-calls are fine, basically covering general surgery take so you are mainly in ED seeing RIF pains and abscesses, but on nights you cover gen surg, T&O and urology with no SpR on site. They could be incredibly busy as an F2 I had to wake up a reg more than once, but a good learning experience and got to do some good operating at night.
Ward cover is all done by F1s or RSOs at night.

Fantastically interesting to work in the NICU, I had a really good time. Plenty of tertiary neonatal presentations from GOSH as well as transfers from elsewhere in London. Good opportunities in audit, sim and teaching. Well supported in and out of hours. Downsides: consultant body seem reluctant to pass physical skills on and encourage stepping up.

I really enjoyed this job - very well supported and seniors who are often willing to teach. This is the only F1 job that includes nights, but I found this a good introduction into working nights (as the F1 you cover AMU only at night). The rota was quite intense but this is somewhat expected on acute medicine. There is a daily lunch time teaching session for the juniors.

UCH is a great place to work, IT system is amazing. It's a good job, no nights and minimal weekends and on calls (AMU covers medical nights so it is your turn eventually). You do have to spend some time at a rehab place but it is fine. Friendly teams and consultants.

excellent facilities and the best IT system available out there. Not a DGH so less exposure to take but I loved it.
UCH is a very specialized center so expect to deepen your knowledge on Haem-Onc and Neuro (Not necessarily a bad thing though)
